EU Supports the Expansion of ViP DinaricA

May 25, 2018 – CDF together with the Albanian Development Fund (ADF), will be implementing the program Expansion of ViP DinaricA in the CBC Region Albania – Kosovo, funded by the EU.

Yesterday, CDF Executive Director Ms. Nermin Mahmuti, together with the representatives of the European Union Office and of the Albanian Develoment Fund – launched the program Expansion of ViP DinaricA in the CBC Region Albania – Kosovo, which will help increase the economic activity in the cross-border area through unique sustainable tourism models based on natural, tradition and cultural values, while bringing forth the shared characteristics of the region. Respectively, the program will develop 2 new hiking and cycling trails connecting Kosovo with Albania through the Accursed Mountains (Bjeshkët e Nëmura), the municipalities of Gjakova/ Đakovica, Deçan/ Dečane, Junik, Pejë/Pec with the Albanian municipalities of District of Kukës and District of Shkodra.

The program will entail several activities: Improvement and upgrade of small scale tourism infrastructure; Development of Touristic offers within ViP DinaricA; Mapping and GPS tracking of the routes in the CB region; Joint Market Access Programme; Building capacities of AL&KOS mountaineering clubs; Promotion, awareness raising, and destination marketing.

This program will last for two years and the estimated cost is over 440 thousand euros.
