CDF supports the health system through donating protecting equipment in Kosovo

Today, on April 8, 2020, Community Development Fund (CDF) donated personal protective equipment for healthcare works. The support was made possible through the Tuberculosis and HIV Programs funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.

CDF, through the Global Fund grant has managed to provide emergency support to the health system, in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Personal protective equipment for health workers on the first line of response has been submitted to the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo, as follow:

• 45,000 non-sterile gloves,

• 15,000 sterile gloves,

• 900 impermeable medical coveralls,

• 700 respiratory masks,

• 20,000 shoe covers.

Throughout March 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CDF has also donated to the health system in Kosovo as follows:

  • 36,000 sterile gloves,
  • 520 N95 respirators,
  • 350 liters of disinfectant for the primary care and
  • 20,000 leaflets, information and education material on COVID-19, preventive measures and coping with stress and fear.

But that’s not all!

The Global Fund will continue to play a key role in the global response to COVID-19 pandemics, especially by supporting less developed health systems in countries where it funds programs focused on HIV pandemics, tuberculosis and malaria. Therefore, in the coming weeks and months, the CDF expects to provide additional funding to support the prevention and detection of COVID-19 cases.

Thank you for your tireless work!
