Component 3 - Municipal Development

The aim of the Municipal Development Component is to increase the efficiency and capacity of target municipal administration in responding to the needs of all their citizens. This component will also aim to Improve systems of revenue collection and diversification of own source revenue streams for target municipalities.

The main activities of this component will be mapping of the Local Governments’ needs and designing of tailor made capacity building for them. This will be achieved through training modules and capacity development exercises for public servants. Other activities of this component will be extended presence of e-services, social services, as well as education and healthcare.

Some of the main outcomes from this component will be:

  • Improved quality, quantity and transparency of municipal service delivery;
  • Increased own source revenue for municipalities;
  • Increased transparency of municipal service delivery;
  • Increased community engagement with local decision making
